MCI Training and Response Tactics

The world of Emergency Response over the last 10 years has rapidly evolved and the incidents first responders once called “career calls” are no longer a one-time occasion. These calls have become a part of normal operations and are expected each year.  Fire season in California used to have set time frames, as did hurricane season. Go back 10 years ago, and it was not uncommon to go from fire shelter training with T cards to packing your 72-hour bag for ambulance strike team deployment to the gulf.  There was a Special Operations-like group that took pride in always being ready with red bag on the shoulder & challenge coins in the pocket. Today, we have operators doing this in one 12-hour shift, for weeks on end, for the past 4 years and counting.

How do we prepare, respond, and sustain operations in this new environment?

Simple. By training Everyone.

“We don't rise to the level of our expectations; we fall to the level of our training.”  Archilochus

While these incidents are expected, they are not planned for to the level that they should.

This is where we come in.

We will work with you to take daily operations and parallel them to a response.

Mr. Marsh has learned this core concept in response to many incidents including: San Bruno, Ca. gas line explosion, Asiana Flight 214 SFO crash, Ambulance Task Force deployment to the fires of Northern California, Hurricane deployments, Covid Deployment to New York City.
Each response was unique and isolated to its own operational objectives.  However, the same questions continued to occur by the incoming EMS mutual aid providers. At Marsh EMS Consulting, we will review lessons learned in past responses, engage the front-line supervisors, identify their challenges and strengths, then build a plan to move quickly, accomplish the objective, and finish the job without wearing out the work force. After-Action-Reports have proven to be a valuable learning tool when identifying team strengths and weaknesses. Each client we serve will receive an experience unique to their organization, with the tools they need to grow in the direction they prefer.
